Responsibilities:
- Interfaces with the business community to define objectives and requirements. Translates into a format that allows technical solutions to be developed and implemented. Ensures the definition of criteria and specifications when meeting with end-users or clients of the business unit to ascertain the development and staging of data extracted from databases or mainframe source files. Presents and clarifies the content of data, confirms specifications and develops defined information deliverables. Reaches consensus on specifications and drives execution.
- Translates business objectives into criteria and logical specifications. Programs and develops code to generate end deliverables (including file extracts, MIS reports, and SAS data marts). Develops, tests and writes moderate to highly complex application programs, queries or profiles according to specifications. Codes and changes program as required. Modifies existing programs to meet the needs of end-user or client. Maintains and shares libraries of programs and programming techniques with analysts across the organization.
- Makes recommendations to help evolve and make iterative improvements to the information infrastructure. Develops SAS data marts and stages data for use throughout the organization. Gathers business requirements, codes, tests, debugs, creates documentation and implements solutions. Increases the awareness and provides support in the usage of information solution by the business analysts. Develops tables and code libraries that can be shared by analysts across the business unit to increase accessibility to data marts. Develops and supports a wide variety of information deliverables in both an ad hoc and production fashion. Develops and produces standard reports and files and delivers according to specification. Implements profitability algorithms, segmentation schemes and propensity to purchase models.
- Supports revenue generation programs. Interfaces with Marketing and risk departments to translate strategy into executable instructions. Manages and executes assigned portion of campaigns to completion. Develops and tunes criteria and programs, as well as produces interim campaign MIS, campaign file development and backend campaign tracking and reporting.
- Designs, develops and maintains databases and data marts as needed for MIS, end user computing and statistical modeling. Ensures all databases and data marts are accurate, documented and accessible. Ascertains, recommends and implements methods of improving efficiencies in database design, programming tools and coding methodologies for business analysts and the department. Interfaces with Technology Services to research complex data quality and systems processing issues to ensure resolution. Investigates operational systems. Extracts and generates proposals to improve quality, timeliness and usability. Diagnoses underlying problems related to data integrity. Consults with business unit personnel, systems analysts and others regarding data quality issues.
- Identifies system performance issues on large, complex queries. Redevelops queries to perform in a more efficient manner. Develops cost effective code in the completion of assigned projects. Mentors other CIM Analysts as assigned. Maintains generated programs, queries and profiles to ensure organizational computer and informational resources are leveraged in an efficient manner.
- Develops trains and support CIM Analysts as required. Reviews finished projects and work in progress to ensure correctness, accuracy and conformance to department standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Business, Social Science and two years experience in a computing or information science oriented area. Master’s degree preferred. This position requires: demonstrated proficiency in programming in SAS, Easytrieve, COBOL, SQL, PEARL, or JAVA; the ability to actively listen, interview and apply information from meetings to complete assigned tasks; excellent cognitive and mathematical aptitude; and the ability to independently assume responsibility and complete tasks. |
