FileSOFTD.DAT gives data from a survey undertaken to determine consumer perceptionsof six competing brands of soft drinks. The brand rated were as follows: (1)Pepsicola(regular); (2)coke(regular); (3)Gatorade; (4)Allsport; (5)Lipton originaltea; (6)Nestea.
Note:although national brand names have been used, the data are fictitious.
Respondentsused a 7-point scale(1=strongly disagree to 7=strongly agree) to indicate theirlevel of agreement/disagreement with the 10statements given in fileSOFTD.DOC(in each of the statement substitute “brand x” with the brands listedabove).
Usefactor analysis to identify and label the smallest number of factors that bestaccount for the variance in the data. Also, use the factor scores to plot andinterpret perceptual map(s) of the six brands.
