He has been an invited speaker to SAS users groups in Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom, and has also presented papers at annual meetings of SEUGI (SAS European Users Group International) and SUGA (SAS Users Group Asia).

Title 1: A Peek at PROC DOCUMENT

If implementation of the Output Delivery System (ODS) in Version 8 changed the way you think about working with SAS procedure-generated output, then learning about PROC DOCUMENT, new to SAS 9, will change the way you think about the Output Delivery System itself. PROC DOCUMENT, along with the new Document Window and the ODS DOCUMENT Destination, revolutionizes the way we can work with the tables generated from applying ODS-compliant Procedures to your data sets. This presentation shows you how these new features can be used to: a) reorganize your SAS generate output; B) save ODS tables as either permanent or temporary “documents” that you can re-use repeatedly without having to re-run Procedures against data sets; c) work with ODS “documents; d) use the Document Window to work with your ODS documents; and, e) use PROC DOCUMENT syntax to accomplish your tasks instead of using point-and-click methods in the Document Window. This presentation is appropriate for all SAS users who want to take advantage of this exciting new addition to ODS in SAS 9.
Title 2: ODS 201: Making Your Life Easier with the Output Delivery System

Building on the concepts and techniques presented in the previous presentation, this 50 minute talk shows you how to take advantage of ODS capabilities that will simplify your work with SAS generated output. We will look at ways to render output from multiple SAS procedures in to SAS data sets and then combine that output in to one data set to facilitate identification of “optimal” or “best” statistical model from among many potential models. Another example shows how to combine ODS and Data Step capabilities to obtain a test statistic that is not available from a SAS/STAT module procedure and then use the results of that statistic in a model-building exercise. Once we have the required output, we will look at how other ODS capabilities are applied to create a visually compelling report of the results, including how to dynamically assign colors (i.e., “traffic light”) to parts of the output depending on user-defined “decision rules.” While several of the examples are drawn from output generated by PROCs REG and LOGISTIC in SAS/STAT? Software, the concepts and techniques shown are applicable to all users of SAS Software, especially those using PROC REPORT.
